About Chingu

A place where strangers become a team, and ideas become working software.

Chingu is a volunteer-run community that helps self-taught and career-changing builders close the gap between tutorials and teamwork — by actually putting them on a team.

“Thank you, Chingu, for creating a space where strangers become a team and ideas become working software.” — Isaac Datch, Software Developer
The problem we address

You can code in a vacuum. You can’t ship in one.

Most learning platforms teach skills. Most bootcamps teach skills faster. Almost nothing teaches what happens after you’ve learned enough — when you need to coordinate with five other people across three timezones to turn an idea into a live product. That gap is where careers get stuck. Chingu is a community-scale answer: put people on teams, give them a real sprint, and let the work teach them.

What we believe

Five things, worth saying out loud.

Building > learning

We don’t teach a curriculum. We put people on teams and let the sprint teach them what tutorials can’t.

Community over credential

No certificates. No badges. Your proof is the product you shipped with your team and the people who’ll vouch for you.

Accountability beats willpower

Most solo projects die. Teams that agreed on a ship date don’t. A real standup with real humans is the best motivator we’ve found.

Remote-first, global by design

Members in 125 countries across multiple languages. Cross-timezone work isn’t a constraint — it’s the skill.

Free, forever

Volunteer-run, alumni-led. No investors. No premium tier. No credit card, ever.

Psychological safety matters

Teams that ship are teams where disagreement is allowed and “I don’t know” is a sentence people can finish.

How we’re different

Not a bootcamp. Not a course. A practice.

A bootcamp

Pays instructors. Front-loads a curriculum. Sells you a credential. Chingu doesn’t do any of those things.

A course platform

Gives you videos to watch on your own time. Progress is measured in lessons completed. Chingu measures in products shipped.

Chingu is closer to an intramural league than a classroom. Show up, get matched, play the season, take the relationships and the shipped product with you. Why it’s free →
