Community Programs

Ways to grow with Chingu beyond the Voyage.

The Voyage is the core. The community is the rest — weekly training, book club, topic channels, and office hours. Most are open to anyone in the Discord, regardless of whether you’re in a cohort.

Weekly training sessions

Topic-focused workshops, run by alumni and industry pros.

When

Weekly, rotating days to accommodate global timezones. Schedule posted in #events each week.

What’s covered

Git workflows. React patterns. System design basics. Retrospective facilitation. Interview prep. Whatever the community asks for next.

Who runs them

Voyage Guides, alumni with deep expertise, and occasional industry guests. Recordings posted for anyone who couldn’t make the live session.

Book Club

Read a hard book with people who want to discuss it.

How it runs

A chapter or two per week, async discussion in Discord, weekly sync for deeper questions. Members volunteer to lead chapter discussions. Anyone can propose the next book.

What we’ve read

Designing Data-Intensive Applications. The Pragmatic Programmer. Continuous Delivery. Designing Your Work Life. Technical and career-adjacent both welcome.

Topic channels

The Discord is where the daily community lives.

Office hours & AMAs

Industry guests, live Q&A.

Occasional sessions with professionals from across the industry — engineers, designers, hiring managers, founders. They answer member-submitted questions for an hour. Recordings go into the archive for anyone who missed it. Announced in #events; open to anyone in the Discord.

Pair Programming

The lowest-commitment way to get involved.

On-demand coding sessions with peers — drop in, pair up, build together for 60 to 90 minutes. A good first step if a full Voyage feels like too much right now.
